  currently viewing: BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Toronto, November 27, 2007 Overcome with curiosity I ventured over to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (only 5 mins from my office) to see what the fuss was all about back in June when the hand-carved temple was opened to great international fanfare. I can see why, now! The temple is smaller than I thought it would be but still incredible. One is able to tour the interior freely although no photography is allowed. The woodwork alone inside is incredible, to say nothing of the marble, hand-carved in India over 8 years and transported in 24,000 numbered pieces and reassembled onsite. Amazing. Category:
